One Day Trips
Ponca/Steel Creek to Kyles Landing (10.6/8 miles)
One of our more popular float trips is the stretch from Ponca to Kyles Landing. It is well known for its scenery and whitewater action. Roark Bluff at Steel Creek is just one the beautiful bluffs on this stretch of the river. Another benefit of this float is the opportunity to float to the trailhead of Hemmed in Hollow and hike to the gorgeous 225 foot waterfall from the river. We generally run this float on Saturdays in April and May when water permits. Averages 4-6 hours.
Erbie to Pruitt (7.5 miles)
Our most popular trip by far. The float from Erbie to Pruitt is a great float for all experience levels. We think this float is the hidden gem on this river (the forgotten float). We are one of the few outfitters that offer this opportunity. The peace and serenity on this float are just right. The bluffs along this stretch are very beautiful as well. Another advantage to this float is that float back to your car and nobody but you drives your car. We generally run this float everyday when water permits. Averages 4-6 hours.
Pruitt to Hasty (7 miles)
A great trip for a family adventure. This is a great float for all ages. There are lots of great swimming holes on this float. Fishing on this stretch is very good as well. Last year, some of our floaters were lucky enough to see elk crossing the river on this float. We generally run this float everyday. Averages 4-6 hours.
Multi Day Trips
Ponca – Pruitt (23.8 miles)
By far our most popular multi day trip. The combination of scenery and serenity make this a great option for trip.
Pruitt – Mt. Hersey (17.8 miles)
Our fisherman special! Try this multiday trip down river and enjoy the scenery and some the outstanding smallmouth fishing the Buffalo River has to offer.
Pruitt – Woolum (26.3 miles)
Great 3-day trip that has great fishing along with the addition of being able to float by Skull Bluff and the Narrows(exact midpoint of the river).
Getting On The River
First, come to our office in Pruitt between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. We will get your rental contract completed and you will pay for your canoe rental and shuttle. We offer multiple shuttle options. Check out the chart below to see which shuttle options are available for which floats.
Option 1
You follow us to the Pruitt Landing where you will park and lock your car and ride with us upriver to your put in. You will then float back to your vehicle. Advantage: Your car is right where you parked it.
Option 2
You park your car in our parking lot and we take you to the river and pick you up and bring you back to our store. Advantage: Some access roads are not ideal for some vehicles.
Option 3
You will drive your vehicle to the put in where our staff will meet you with the boats, pfd’s, and mesh litter bags. While you are on the river, we will shuttle your car from the launch site to the take out. Here are some helpful things to know about us shuttling your car:
- Bringing a spare key with you is very helpful for you and us.
- Make sure your vehicle is safe to drive and has enough gas.

Private Shuttles
We can provide shuttle service for private boaters wishing to save time and make their river trip even more enjoyable and convenient. We will do our best to have your vehicle at the take out before you arrive.
